Blog Hop: Salt & Sand!

Welcome to Inflorescence and thank you Carol from Just Let Me Quilt for hosting! This blog hop challenged us to create or show a project that included something ocean themed-colors, design etc…

For my blog hop post I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to create a couple patterns for people to enjoy.

I started designing traditional pieced patterns in May 2020 after losing my job as an Adult Day Care Director due to covid-19. During my gifted downtime, I decided that I wanted to make a wall hanging for my kitchen. I looked online for patterns to create what I envisioned and I just couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I decided to create my own. This sparked my creativity to not only create patterns for myself, but to write them for others to enjoy as well.

Fast forward 8 months and many patterns later…I decided to dive into the deep end.

Just last month I designed my very first foundation paper piecing pattern just one day after trying the technique for the first time. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased EQ8 and have since made a plethora of patterns that I still need to test. I just can’t stop!

For this blog hop I have designed three patterns. I designed a sand bucket in both foundation paper piecing and traditional piecing techniques for you to download and enjoy. Each pattern includes 2 sizes.

Includes 6″ and 12″ Finished Block Sizes
Includes 8″ and 12″ Finished Block Sizes

But I just couldn’t stop there. My blog is not only about sharing my love of fiber arts, techniques and tutorials, but it is also an outlet to show the world who I am and things that I love. I have an obsession with all things kawaii. I love food and other objects with faces on them, cats, mermaids, pumpkins….. so I designed a pattern of a cat mermaid. Otherwise known as a “Purrmaid.” This pattern still needs to be tested by individuals other than me before I can make it available but I hope you enjoy it here in the meantime.

I also remembered some other salty creations I have created in the past and I thought, why not feature them here as well.

One of my free patterns is my Baby Shark Pattern. I designed this last year for my daughter who was obsessed with them. I made Mommy, Daddy and Baby shark to hang in our ocean themed bathroom.

I also remembered that before I got back into sewing and quilting last year, I was really into crochet. For my niece I made an underwater blanket. I might in the future turn this design into quilt form.
