For this month’s Crafter’s Edge project, I chose to work with the ominous parallelogram and the handy half square triangles and quarter square triangles to bring to you this fun and easy quilt block.
I have designed it with patriotic colors since the Fourth of July is this weekend, but this pattern would look amazing in almost any color combination.

I experimented with patterned fabric. In June, EQ8 asked its subscribers to design a quilt using one the newest Riley Blake line called “Dream” by Kristy Lea of Quiet Play. I used the Whirl & Twirl block to create the quilt below. I was hesitant about how busy it might be with ALL patterned fabric but I think it works well if you pair low volume prints with busier ones.

Happy sewing.
Starting to bloom by choosing JOY ~ Julia
Hi, Julia, thanks for giving us the pattern for that wonderful table runner/wall/door hanger! It is a really neat design, and it was fun to see the different color combinations as well as the quilt designs. I agree with you that the Halloween colors are the best. I don’t know what it is about them, but they just seem to agree with that pattern. 🙂
Thank you Carol!
