UFO Blog Hop

The Challenge: Yes, it’s all about UFO’s. Are we talking unfinished objects? Are we talking Aliens? Well, that’s completely up to you. You tell us with your project!

Thank you Joan from MooseStash Quilting for hosting this hop. It pushed me to finish several of my UFO quilts.

Back in February I released my Whirl & Twirl Quilt Pattern. This quilt features oversized blocks that come together really quickly but part of the easy pattern includes a lot of oversized scraps. I hate waste, so I included several bonus patterns that can be made by just using the scraps. When designing new quilts and quilt blocks I test my patterns multiple times, so I had several UFO’s of just this quilt pattern and bonus quilt pattern just waiting to be finished. Thanks to this hop I was encouraged to finally finish them! Check out the finished quilts below!

I also hosted a Quilt Along for the Whirl & Twirl Quilt Pattern and all the posts can be found HERE!

This hop also encouraged me to finish a disappearing 9 patch quilt that my eldest daughter and I started back in 2020 when she was remotely learning at the beginning of the pandemic. She was finishing Kindergarten, so we honestly didn’t do much remote learning, so life skills were our new education! We made basting easy by just using some pre-quilted fabric and we tie quilted it together.

I still have may UFO’s to complete including dozens of individual quilt blocks, but I am so happy to have a few more finished. Thanks for stopping by! Check out the other bloggers who are posting today below. OR check out the full list HERE.

  1. Great finishes! Your daughter looks super-pleased with her quilt, as she should be! I like the quilting on the first 2 quilts, as well as the patterns. 🙂

  2. Of my goodness that smile on your daughters face speaks volumes! What a great way to spend time when we were “Locked down” for all practical purposes. Love your Whirl and twirl quilt and the bonus one too.

  3. Love completing a UFO. I am impressed to several that you’ve (& your daughter) have finished. Tell her the disappearing 9-patch is wonderful; AND to think she started it back in 2020. Excellent.

  4. It is hard to tell that all the quilts are made from the same pattern. They both look so great! I love the graphic design with the bold colors and they both look so good!. How special to sew with your daughter. You can tell by the expression on her face, she is happy to have finished it as well. Such pretty colors for a girl and a great and easy design. Thanks for stopping by my blog as well.

  5. I love that you think of the scraps a quilt will create when making a pattern. All 3 quilts are beautiful.

  6. Congrats on getting 3 UFOs finished. I love your Whirl and Twirl pattern. So nice to see a little starting on sharing our love of our craft! 😉

  7. These are great finishes. I’m smitten with the bug” use it all up”, and you have done such a magnificent job of doing just that. Thanks for sharing your beautiful finishes with us.

  8. Well done on your finishes for the UFO hop. I always try to use the leftovers from a quilt too, which is why I have so many UFOs sitting around!! How cool that your daughter finished her quilt too – it’s beautiful.
