The Challenge: Think turkeys, thankfulness or Thanksgiving fabric. November also means beautiful colors of fall, so sew something with oranges, golds, brown, greens or cranberry reds.
Hello Everyone!
This month I put forth a challenge to myself. I challenged myself to simply not plan anything. I am a planner. Lists and calendars fill my mornings so that I can accomplish what I need to accomplish. So, for this hop, I decided to just go into my sewing space and just “create.”
The process of not planning anything let me to create this little 12″ x 12″ work of art. I’m not sure what it is really, other than I used material from my autumn fabric stash. Purple was included in this because, well, without thinking I just thought it looked pretty with my fall fabric.
I added a touch of gold shimmer to this piece to make it really sparkle! I used Thermoweb’s Gold Glitter Dust Spray!

Looks like an abstract turkey tail; very nice!
Great project, thanks so much for sharing!
Nothing fills our creative souls, more than just playing from time to time. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving season.
Goodness, not planning…now that’s a real challenge. Loved the colors and your addition of the purple. I do think of purple when I think of Halloween, so it fits right in. It’s great and so are your apples/pumpkins; they look so awesome with the hanging banner.
My days are filled with deadlines so I love this idea of just going in my sewing room to create something random. Dresden’s are one of my favorite things to sew and they seem perfect for Thanksgiving. Maybe because they remind us of turkey feathers? Thank you for sharing your creative and pretty mini quilt! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Dresdens are so much fun to make. One of my favorites. I love how you made yours, very creative.
That is very cool, and I love the purple you used in it! I never heard of the Gold Glitter Dust Spray, so now I have to check that out. I’m also heading over to your Facebook page to sign up for the ornament, if I’m not too late. I love how your ‘no-plan’ project turned out!
I have that banner holder and for 4 or 5 (?) years have used it for monthly banners that I made up but I was just thinking I that I wanted something new. Thanks for sharing this :o).
Such a pretty work of art, without any planning. Sometimes it’s great when you just “wing it”!
Thanks for sharing your fall little quilt! It’s darling!
And yes, purple IS a fall colour! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving! I love purple all year ’round.
Neat piece! I like the way your non-plan turned out! Very modern, yet with a flavor of fall and Thanksgiving (dresden–turkey feathers??). Thanks for sharing, Julia!
