Today’s Crafter’s Edge project features the Tumbler Block Die Set. This is a quilt I have wanted to make for a long time, but I just never had any need to make one till recently. Earlier this month my mother came to me with news that a longtime friend of Her’s daughter was pregnant with her second child. The soon to be mother of two was also a long-ago friend of mine and my siblings during grade school.
My mother used to provide childcare while she was a SAHM, and the recipient of this quilt was one of the children she watched. I remember each summer we would on a weekly basis hatch plans to have sleepovers at her house. Her house was the one to go to. They had cable television, a trampoline and a fridge full of pop in the garage that we had access to. We would also have free range of the pantry where we would make ourselves bowls of Ramen Noodle and SpaghettiOs for dinner and breakfast. She also had a Nintendo with all the fun games.
Fast forward to the present and my mother asked me if she were to pay for the material and supplies if I could put together a quilt before the baby shower. I of course said yes, and I have to say this quilt took me a total of 2 days to put it together. I cut and pieced the quilt all in one day, then I quilted and bound the second day. Definitely the quickest quilt I have ever put together. What made it so easy was the Crafter’s Edge Die and the Crossover II which cut out all the pieces perfectly and identical.
What also made it go so quick was Thermoweb’s Basting Spray. I used to pin baste and I honestly will never go back especially for large projects.
Happy Sewing!
