I am a big believer in recycling and reusing what I can. This includes all my fabric scraps. When working on a project that includes different size quilt blocks I try to make my larger blocks first since trimming the triangles leaves decent size scrap pieces.
However, the super tiny pieces eventually just found their way to the trash. That was until I was introduced to an idea from my late Aunt.
When she passed away, I was blessed to be able to have some of her sewing materials. Her basement was a quilters dream. In amongst the plethora of material and boxes were pre-sewn pillow cases. Most were just stacked in a pile ready for their filling.
Others, however, were filled full and some half filled. What was exciting was what she filled them with. She would fill her forms with all the scraps that were too small to use for anything else. Her great idea fed my love of recycling and reusing.
These pillows are great as decorative pillows since they are definitely firm. I am currently filling my first form from all my current projects and I plan on creating a pillow cover that matches my covered front porch furniture when I finish it.
