March is National Quilting Month and I am joining in on a scrap busting challenge hosted by @teaandbrie on Instagram. The purpose of this challenge is to use up your scraps during the month of March in celebration of quilting.
Instagram, like blog hopping is a great way to feel encouraged and inspired. Others are there to motivate, encourage and inspire.
I have a TON of scraps.
I not only have my own piles of scraps but I also inherited my late Aunts fabric scraps.
So needless to say, I need to do something about all these.
I have chosen a few options to use up my overwhelming supply of scrappy goodness. I am going to be making the following:
- A String Quilt-I saw several string quilts on my recent blog hop and I have always wanted to make one. This seems like the perfect opportunity to make myself make one without having to overthink fabric color and placement.
- Mini and Medium bags-I recently bought the bitsy bag pattern and I am obsessed with how adorable it is and how easy it is to make. I am also going to make several other patterns I have found on Pinterest.
- Fabric Refillable Eggs-I just finished a super fun and easy swap on Instagram where we made refillable fabric eggs and swapped them. They are a great scrap buster and since Easter is in early April, making these throughout March is perfect timing!
I will be posting weekly on Monday’s with what I have created each week. Below you will see what I have already made. Some of these items were made last week in preparation for this but this gives you an idea of where I am heading.
The only thing I don’t have 100% figured out yet is what am I going to do with all of these?!? Some will be used as giveaways and in swap goodie bags but what about the rest….
Time will tell. I would love to hear what you would do with a lot of mini bags etc.
Are you going to join me and #sewthescrapoutofmarch2021 ?
Happy Sewing
