Recycled Jean Grocery Bag

Hello and welcome! I’m so joyful you are visiting today.

Today’s project is a collaboration between Thermoweb and Amy Barickman from Treasured Threadz. Amy Barickman enjoys recycling fabrics and turning them into something new. This joy led her to create Treasured Threadz–you can read all about her journey HERE!

Today is a great day to make something from recycled fabrics as yesterday was Earth Day! Today on the blog I am sharing how to make a Recycled Jean Grocery Bag!

This bag is AMAZING! Since I made it, I have used it on every grocery trip. I shop at Aldi so bringing your own bags is necessary if you don’t want to buy paper bags.

Jeans are the workhorse of pants, and this bag proves it. It can fit so much, and the weight of the groceries has never an issue because of the materials used. It takes 2 pairs of jeans to make. I even tried to incorporate the waistband and one of the back pockets as embellishments. The little pocket is perfect for a pack of gum, candy or your receipt!

If you want to make one for yourself, you can find the full tutorial over on Thermoweb’s blog. There is even a full YouTube video link at the bottom of the page providing a visual aid in making this bag.

Happy Sewing!
