Rainbows & Raindrops

For today’s tutorial, I used FOUR different Crafter’s Edge Dies. I like getting the most out of my dies, so I am always looking at the different shapes and the potential they possess. Today I used the following dies:

Supplies:

Fabric wise, I used all scraps from my scrap bin and some Kona Snow for the background. I also used the following supplies:

Instructions:

Begin by bonding your HeatnBond Lite to your fabric. Next cut out your shapes using the Crossover II Machine. I cut out 5 sheep bodies (clouds) 6 strips for the rainbow, 6 peacock feathers (raindrops) and 6 hearts. If you are unsure of placement in any of your projects, you can actually cut out your shapes with paper first to determine quantity and placement. This helped me prevent cutting out too many as well as additional waste.

Once all your shapes are cut out, begin adhering your shapes to your background fabric. Use your ruler to find the center of your backing and adhere the two center strips first. This will help keep your entire piece centered. Continue by fusing the remaining pieces to your background.

Next, layer your backing, StitchnSew Sew-in-Fleece and front pieces together. Baste these layers together. I used Thermoweb’s SpraynBond Basting Spray. I love this product! Once your layers are basted it is time to applique your shapes and quilt your piece.

Finally, finish your piece by binding using your preferred method.

FINISHED!

Thanks for joining me! I had so much fun makeing this quilt. It is going to hang on my studio wall. You will soon start seeing it in my YouTube tutorial videos!

Happy Sewing!
