Hello blog hoppers! Welcome to Inflorescence Designs. I am so joyful you are here. The Challenge: Create something to do with MUSIC. Do you have a song that inspires you or a tune you listen to when you sew? Do you love a particular instrument or know someone who does? Maybe something, anything, is music to your heart. Does your Mary have a lamb? Do you have music fabric you need to use? You decide! The theme is really your own interpretation, surprise us!
My inspiration for this hop came from my favorite song, my Darling Daughter Melody. I had other ideas for this hop but one day she came to me and said she wanted a yellow dress with a heart in the middle. She said it with such confidence and knew that her mommy could make her something like that. She even told me she wanted it yellow because yellow (or Llellow as she says) is my favorite color. Cue my melting heart!
So, of course I had to make her the dress she imagined. I wanted to use my stash, but I was short on large pieces of yellow fabric for the skirt, so I improvised a little bit. The pattern is the Party Dress by The Cottage Mama. You can get this pattern for free by joining their Facebook group. I altered the pattern slightly by not adding the sash but instead the folded ribbon as well as lengthening the dress so she can wear it through the winter.
I wanted to make is even more personal and special for her, so I added the letter M to the skirt. She loved it when she saw it for the first time that she wanted to wear it right away! She loves doing little photo shoots with me as well.
Thanks for joining me today. You can find all the other bloggers posting today in the links below or check out the full list HERE.
