Monster Mash Blog Hop

The Challenge: Sew something scary, not scary, or something in between. If it’s Halloween related you know we will love it.

Hello Everyone!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the turning of the leaves, the changing of temperatures and pumpkins! I love pumpkins!

For today’s hop, I made a one block wonder quilt. I love these quilts. I love the kaleidoscope look and how you can take a not so cute fabric print or panel and turn it into something so wonderful!

Last year, after Halloween I bought this panel on super clearance with the intention of turning it into a one block wonder. You may like this panel but I never in a million years would ever buy or use it as is. The quilt shop down the road from me had exactly 6 of them so I snatched them up. (If you are ever in southwest Ohio, the shop near me is called Seams Sew Easy).

I love playing with the three different ways you can assemble the hexagons. I think that might by my favorite part.

Life has been super crazy over here so I only managed to get the top pieced. But here it is in all this wonder!

  1. Crazy enough, I love the panel, but nothing compares to the fabulous quilt you made with it! I love love love it!!! Sweet photo holders you did in the craft room last night too!

  2. I’m like Joan, I like that panel. I have never made a one block wonder, but my friends have and I love them. I would never have thought that panel would look so amazing in your quilt, but it does. LOVE IT! I will be watching for discounted panels, for sure. That cute quilt shop is 45 minutes from where I regularly visit in Ohio. I will definitely be taking a drive next time I’m there. Thanks for sharing all your monstrously cute projects, Julia!

    1. If you do stop by Fairfield let me know I would love to meet you in person! Doing these blog hops as well as doing different affiliate blogging makes me feel like we already know each other a bit. LOL.

  3. I, too, love OBW quilts. That is perfect with all the orange and black in it. I think it’s much better as a OBW than it was as a panel! Yep, I love how each block gives you fun, fun, fun as you rearrange the pieces.

  4. That panel made a great one block wonder! Now I’m thinking I need to make another one with a Halloween panel (I’ve made 4 OBWs)! I like the way the patterns on the hexies come out–so cool!

  5. Your one-block wonder is SEW much nicer than the panels. Like you, I would never make a panel into a quilt without altering it first. Yours is great, so thanks for sharing!

  6. I love what you did with those pieces. One block wonders are amazing creative outlets. You have put more work into that top than I did in my last 2 hops. Beautiful work.

  7. I love One Block Wonder quilts and have made several myself! It is fun to play with the hexies and all the ways to arrange them, yours turned out fantastic!
