I love to make food quilts and projects. It was actually my idea of a breakfast food quilt that made me get into quilting back during the 2020 shutdown. My quilt, “Breakfast Quilt” was inspired by the fact that I could not find any patterns that featured what I wanted to make so I ended up designing my own. My original design had a cinnamon roll on it (as you can see in the photo below). Sadly, that quilt block never made it to paper for others to enjoy and I replaced it with a muffin block (second photo). At the time, I hand stitched the icing on the cinnamon roll and I wasn’t really a big fan of how it turned out.
However, with a few years of experience under my belt and a new found love of applique, I have redesigned a NEW cinnamon roll quilt block. This block does not have hand stitching but rather, the icing is appliqued on. What makes this block even more special is that it can be traditionally pieced OR paper pieced!
