Hello and welcome to Inflorescence Designs! I am so joyful you are visiting today. Today on the blog I am featuring another Island Batik challenge: Making a By Annie bag.
I chose to make the Got Your Back 2.1. I used several fabrics from a fun collection of Island Batik Fabric called Flower Pot which is part of the Spring 2024 collection. I used some other Island Batik Fabrics as well to help with some contrast.
This was a fun challenge. I recently started a career as a preK-8th grade art teacher and making myself a backpack to take to and from school was perfect. The pattern is well written and easy to follow.
I had one major issue. I was able to complete all the steps of making the backpack except the very last and most important one. My machine could not handle the thickness of the seams when trying to assemble the backpack. Due to this, the insides of my backpack are not bound as that would have added 2 more layers of fabric. I did my best to serge the edges to keep it from fraying.
