Ice Cream Bowl Applique Tutorial

If you have been following my journey with Crafter’s Edge as one of their design team members, then you already know how much I love to take their dies and think of other ways to use them other than their intended purpose. I like to make the most of my supplies. Well, I have another fun tutorial that shows you just that. For this project I used Crafter’s Edge Cuddly Teddy Bear Die set.

That’s right! I used a teddy bear to make ice cream. The cute little feet look just like scoops of ice cream and the little heart nose works perfect for a cherry or strawberry on top!

Supplies:

Instructions:

Begin by bonding your HeatnBond Lite to your assorted applique fabric pieces following the manufactures instructions.

Then, using your Crafter’s Edge Crossover II, cut out 3 bear paws in assorted colors for your ice cream pieces and cut out one heart for your cherry. For the bowl, cut out a partial or whole medium and small circle. Trim your large circle to a 1 7/8″ half circle. Do the same for your small circle but trim it to a 1″ half circle.

Arrange your applique pieces like the photo above. Peel the backing paper off and press to adhere your ice cream and bowl to your front backing fabric. Next, baste your front piece, batting and backing together and quilt/applique in any way you choose.

Finish your project by adding biding, using your preferred method. FINISHED!

Such cute and clever little ice cream bowls! It was the perfect companion for the cupcakes I made for my daughter’s 8th birthday party. My eldest daughter just turned 8 years old, and we celebrated her birthday this past weekend with a few close friends and family. My youngest, wanted to help make her cake and I love having her as my baking buddy.
