Need a fun and easy quilt project? Check out this beautiful Octagon Quilt Block I have turned into a table topper!

It comes together so quickly and can be increased in size depending on where you want to put it. The ones photographed are 11″ across and can be made with charm squares. The cutting measurements for this size are listed below. For larger sizes, see the chart at the bottom of this blog post.

Supplies:

  • (2) 5″ squares for the smaller triangles of the partial hourglass blocks
  • (2) 4 1/2″ squares for the large triangle of the partial hourglass blocks
  • (2) 4 1/2″ squares for the outer triangles
  • (1) 4″ block for the center square
  • Batting and Backing
  • Binding: I used 2″ by width of fabric which was about 42″
  • Thermoweb’s Fabric Fuse Glue (optional)
  • Thermoweb’s SpraynBond Basting Spray (optional)

You can find a full YouTube tutorial below or over on my YouTube Channel.

This quilt block can also be used in any of your other quilty projects. Why not try adding it to a sweatshirt? I had fun usings a few of my decorative stitches that I never get to use making the sweatshirt you see below. You can see how I add quilt blocks to clothing HERE.

Happy Sewing!
