Fairy Tales Blog Hop

Once upon a time…..

In a kingdom called Schweri, lived a little princess named Melody. She was born to the King and Queen of Schweri and she also had an older sister, Princess Dahlia.

Her story is unlike any you have ever heard. In fact, her story almost didn’t exist.

Before Princess Melody was born and even before Princess Dahlia, the King and Queen of Schweri were saddened by the loss of several prince and princesses. Try as they might, the King and Queen kept losing their most precious gifts.

Saddened by this, the Queen saw many healers to help her find out why. The healers told her that she was cursed and that without the proper potion she would continue to lose these most precious gifts.

Finally, when the Queen was gifted with a prince or princess again she listened to the healers and took the potion every day and was blessed with a baby girl. The King and Queen named her Princess Dahlia.

The King and Queen were overjoyed to know they had found the cure to the wretched curse the Queen was condemned with.

Several years passed and the King and Queen wanted another prince or princess. However, once again, the Queen kept losing the gifts she was granted. Several times (three to be exact) the Queen had to go to the advanced healers for emergency cures.

Again the King and Queen, who thought they found the miracle cure to their ailment, were deeply saddened.

The Queen went to a special healer for help. Unfortunately, the healer said that in order for her to have a prince or princess she would need to go on a quest to get Dragon Eggs.

The Queen did not want to go on said quest, but she and the King also didn’t want any more losses. The Queen decided that she would go to the healers for a special spell that would make it impossible for the King and Queen to be given any more prince or princesses.

The day the spell would be cast was set and the Queen was ready for this new chapter in her life. However, that all changed…

One month before the spell would be cast the Queen was visiting some of her extended family. One of her Uncles was a practicing enchanter and had magical tears from a weeping statue. The Queens Uncle, did not know of her plans for the magical spell and with the help of the other family members asked if he could cite a chant and bless her with the healing tears.

The Queen agreed, knowing that it wouldn’t change her mind about the magical spell that was to come.

Just one week before the magical spell was to be cast to end the wicked curses the Queen didn’t feel like herself. She decided to use her last magic wand since she wouldn’t need it ever again.

Much to her surprise, the magic wand showed the Queen that she had once again been blessed with a prince or princess.

The emotions, were both joyful and fearful. The Queen quickly called the healers to tell them the news. The week following the results of the magic wand were a bumpy carriage ride. The magic spell was still to take place if the healers determined the Queens gift to once again be lost.

However, the day came when the healers were able to use their magical instruments to see if the future prince or princess had a beating heart.

And there it was. The heart beat that the Queen was hoping to see and hear. The Queen, overcome with emotions, wept.

The healers gave the Queen the same potions that she took with Princess Dahlia and soon enough the King and Queen welcomed Princess Melody into the world.

Since before her arrival, Princess Melody has been a lesson for all to never give up hope and to trust in the workings of a higher power.

The End.

Hello!

I hope you all enjoyed my story. This true story is my fairy tale. I have several autoimmune diseases that were undetected till I was trying to have a family. I have antiphosolipid syndrome which causes blood clotting. I found out about this before my first was born. The magical potions I took included heparin shots twice a day with my first and Lovenox with my second. I later found out that I have poor egg quality. So poor that the fertility specialist told me that they would only use donor eggs (dragon eggs). I had to have one of my tubes removed due to an ectopic pregnancy and two other times go and get methotrexate injections. My Uncle did use prayer and “tears” from a weeping Virgin Mary statue a month before my surgery. The surgery was to remove my remaining fallopian tube making it impossible for me to have anymore children.

My fairy tale is my family, but this is also a sewing/fiber art blog hop.

For this, I made my Princess a Birthday Dress. Her birthday was June 11th and she turned 3 years old! I used the free “Party Dress” pattern from The Cottage Mama.

Melody is my sweet and sour Princess-which makes total sense since she is a Gemini.

She was and still is into Peppa Pig, as you can tell by her party dress. But as with most things with children, it comes and goes so fast. Her current obsession is Captain America and the other super hero’s-which her father is thrilled about!

Since she was obsessed with Peppa I made her a Peppa Pig pillow cover. I designed the foundation paper piecing pattern and added some hand embroidery for added details. You can have the pattern for yourself! Just download the pattern below!

Some of the coloring on the pattern is very similar. Please refer to the photos above if you find them too similar.

Here is a fun video of my Princess Melody. We took the photos early in the morning before the cicadapocalypse began again. When this video and photos were taken we were in the worst days of Brood X. For those who never get to experience this, it is deafening! Our back garden isn’t too bad because the bigger trees are far enough away from the patio but the front porch is another story. Thankfully they will be on their way out and I wont see them for another 17 years.

I am sharing my day with these other fabulous bloggers! Check out their posts and leave some love. We all love inspiring and uplifting comments.

  1. Julia, your story is very touching! How blessed you are to have these 2 beautiful daughters! I love their Peppa Pig things–my youngest granddaughters used to want everything Peppa–now I think they have gone on to other things, as you mention in your post. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  2. Oh Julia, excuse me, Your Majesty The Queen Julia, what a bittersweet tale you wrote. I hope you read this to your 2 princesses as a bedtime story to let them know what truly precious gifts they each are. They are the cutest princesses! Happy belated birthday to Princess Melody. My daughter loved pigs when she was little too and Olivia was her favorite story. My daughter still loves pigs and she is 38 years old!

  3. What a touching tale. But as with all great Fairy Tales it has a very happy ending. Your princesses are beautiful and the Queen is so talented. Her design and execution of the gift pillow are wonderful. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

  4. This was a beautiful story with two little beauties in your happy ending! Your little princess looks adorable in her pretty dress and Peppa Pig as a pillow is just the cutest. We endure the cicadas every year, but some years are worse. There’s no 17 year break for us.

  5. Oh Julia, I just want to reach through my computer and give you a big hug right now. Your story is just incredible and truly made this blog hop special. Your little princesses are so adorable and bring plenty of joy to your palace I’m sure! Your little birthday princess’s Pippa party dress is adorable, and I am sure she is loving her new pillow. Thanks for the links for the patterns, and mostly thanks for being such a special part of the blog hop
