Fabric Ornament Parade Week 5

We are at week five and the final week of the Fabric Ornament Parade. To check out weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 click below!

Week 1 Folded Hexagon Star

Week 2 Folded Origami Circle

Week 3 Tsumami Kanzashi

Week 4 Yo-yos and Ball

This week I bring you an ornament that you may have seen or even made before. You can find so many different free tutorials and patterns on Pinterest. It is called the Quilted Ornament.

I love this ornament and the reason I am posting about it is I want to emphasize how easy my Crafter’s Edge Crossover II made cutting all the pieces out.

Quilted Ornament

Supplies:

  • Crafter’s Edge Crossover II
  • Square die set
  • fabric
  • sequin pins
  • 3″ foam ball
  • ribbon 7/8″
  • Iron (optional)

You don’t have to use the Crossover II and dies to make this project. You can draft your own square templates or use a ruler. Using a jelly roll works really well too. Using the Crossover II machine allowed me to make several sizes and cut out several perfect squares at a time. It also helped easy my tennis elbow pain.

Instructions:

Optional-make your prairie points before beginning.

Choose contrasting colors for a nicer look.

  • 8 of center color
  • 16 of middle color
  • 16 of final color
How to make a Prairie Point

For this tutorial I am directing you to the video tutorial I followed. The only difference I did was I ironed my prairie points before beginning to attach them to my foam ball. Find the video tutorial at the bottom of this post:
