When I was a little girl I remember playing for HOURS with our fantastic Barbie Doll house. At the time, I just thought it was from Santa, but in reality, our doll house was built by our Aunt. She not only bought the house kit and build the actual house, she also spent hours constructing furniture for it.
The furniture was made with plastic mesh canvas and yarn. Most people remember the plastic canvas being used for holiday tissue holders or signs.
My parents still have the house and all the furniture–and our hundreds of Barbie’s, Kelly’s and accessories–at their house. When my older daughter visits she now spends hours in the basement playing with the dolls and the house.
For my girls Christmas this year I want to make them something just as special. My brother is going to make a doll house and I am going to make the same/similar furniture.
I went onto Etsy and searched Pinterest and found several patterns. I am excited to make these for my girls. In the coming weeks, I will post photos about my experience and what I am doing. I will also develop my own patterns and post them on my blog for you.
