Adventurous Applique Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome!

Today on the blog I am featuring another project for Island Batik! This month we are doing another fun blog hop and its theme is applique. I am more of a traditional piecing kind of girl, but I do love small applique projects. This was a bigger project and definitely a challenge for me.

Our applique project this month is a form of raw edge applique. We were instructed to use our thread provided to use from Aurifil like “paint” and apply it liberally. For this applique project I used no fusible webbing like I usually do. I did, however, use Thermoweb’s SpraynBond Basting Adhesive to hold the top fabric in place as well as a cut away stabilizer on the back for support. I used batting provided by Hobbs for this lap size quilt as well as Schmetz needles.

The fabric bundle I got to work with is called Tranquil Moments. The colors are what inspired me to make BUBBLES!

My daughters helped with the photos. We went to a local ninja park and these orbs reminded me of the bubbles.
