Hello and welcome!
When I was younger, I would go to summer camp every year. I would attend Girl Scout Camp each summer and enjoy all the thrills. Hiking, swimming, singing, campfires and spending the night in platform tents. However, my favorite thing was the arts and crafts (and still is–who says you have to grow up entirely!)
Something about creating in nature brings me joy! So, with my post today I am collaborating with Thermoweb and a fun (new to me company) Benzie Felt, and together, we are taking you to Adult Summer Camp!
Now this summer camp focuses on those who enjoy crafting. If that isn’t you, then perhaps you will need to find another adult summer camp that fits your needs.
My ideal Crafty Adult Summer Camp Itinerary would be the following:
- 8-10 am: Breakfast and a hot cup of coffee that never has to be microwaved as you sit outside and enjoy listening to nothing but the birds.
- 10-12 pm: Arts and Crafts: You choose your program–
- Dream Catchers *
- UV Resin *
- Embroidery
- Gourd Decorating *
- Candle Making *
- 12-1 pm: Lunch
- 1-3 pm: Nap/Rest/Snack/Free Time
- 3-5 pm: Arts and Crafts: You choose your program–
- English Paper Piecing *
- Shibori and other fabric dying methods (sophisticated tie-dye) *
- Crochet/Knitting
- Jewelry Making
- Weaving *
- 5-6 pm: Happy Hour
- 6-7 pm: Dinner
- After dinner is free time till bed.
For today’s first program I have chosen Dream Catchers, and I am going to share with you how to make your own!
When I was younger, we definitely made some dream catchers at camp, but nothing like what I’m about to show you. When I was younger the center of the dream catcher was simply yarn that was haphazardly wrapped around a hoop and then some beads and feathers were added.
Since those days, our hand eye coordination and patience has evolved, so for today’s dream catcher, we are going to weave a beautiful center and add some amazing felt and pom poms.
