Hello!
Welcome to Inflorescence! I am joyful that you are here.
About Me. My name is Julia and I currently reside in the city of Fairfield, just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. I grew up in this region but life has taken me other places. I have also lived in Kentucky (Louisville & Warsaw) and Indiana (Clarksville). I am married to my childhood friend Sean and we have two daughters, Dahlia and Melody.
I have always had a passion for arts and crafting–something that I am glad to say my older daughter Dahlia has inherited. Dahlia (6 years) has been painting since she was 16 months old. She sees “trash” and thinks of all the possibilities that it could be if she just uses tape or staples. Melody may be too young at this point (2 years). She currently likes to shout animals for me to draw. She is more interested in books–which is awesome–I was never a big reader. Given the choice to read or create. I created.
My biggest passions are the three F’s. Faith, Family and Fiber Arts! I am not a big church goer but my faith in God is strong. It is through my faith that I am blessed with my two children. They are miracle rainbow babies that were hand picked by God in heaven to be my children. My family is my whole world. My husband and I have known each other since we were children and he is my rock. He is an amazing Dad to our girls. The final F is fiber arts. Of all the art and craft types out there, my favorite is fiber arts. I love to sew, crochet, and dye fabric.
Inflorescence Designs: Inflorescence started when I was laid off due to the corona virus pandemic in March 2020. I used my gifted time to start creating. I started searching for quilt blocks to create the perfect wall hanging for my kitchen. My family LOVES breakfast food and I wanted to create a work of art that represented that. However, I was unimpressed with the lack of patterns out there. I decided to make my own. My breakfast quilt block patterns are what gave me the push I needed to begin on my journey. One thing led to another and I started dreaming up more and more quilt block designs.
I named my site Inflorescence because of the meaning of the word. I have another obsession–gardening, hence my eldest daughters name. Inflorescence is a botanical word with several meanings but ultimately it means starting to bloom. I am starting on a journey. Beginning to bloom with what brings me joy.
